A great post, in particular the last paragraph. Contradictory signals from down under, driven by gross ecclesiological revisionism about Eucharistic Lay Presidency. I’m confused, anyway, about the news from Sydney. The fatuous notion that “this will make the diaconate a real diaconate” demonstrates simple but complete ignorance of Catholic order. In those terms all the [...]
Father Jeffrey Steel has some interesting thoughts on the women bishops General Synod debate, and what it has to say about our approach to the Eucharist. In light of this element of Eucharistic catholicity, it is my understanding that the July vote at General Synod did not once reflect theologically on this issue and simply [...]

Here at Christ Church I wrote an experimental liturgy to use with children (and [...]
Christmas Eve in the morning, it’s not even 7:30am and I’m off to a neighbouring parish to do an 8am Holy Communion (BCP). Question – Who first had the idea of 8am Communion services? Were they taken out and shot? If not why not? Did they not have wives and warm beds?
Listened to an absolutely brilliant sermon on Holy Communion by Alan Preston of the Church of Christ the King (Brighton, New Frontiers). 50 minutes long but well worth getting through. If one wanted to get theological, he comes in somewhere between Calvin and Cranmer (so a bit more Puritan then yours truly) but he definitely [...]
