It’s not as if you thought me ill
It’s not as if you sought to kill
It’s not as if you beat me up
It’s not as if you wouldn’t stop
It’s not as if you slashed my skin
It’s not as if you kicked me in
It’s not as if you raised your hand
And fist after fist on me did land
It’s not as if you did these things
So why am I steeped in sufferings?
It’s not as if you showed a smile
It’s not as if you stopped a while
It’s not as if you phoned to talk
It’s not as if you shared my walk
It’s not as if you called me “friend”
It’s not as if your hands extend
It’s not as if you bid me come
It’s not as if these things were done
It’s not as if you did a thing
So why do I hurt if you didn’t sin?
