Post on Synod Coming Up
Just got back in from a weekend away with my wife’s brother and his family. I’m currently in the process of composing a post about my reflections on the General Synod Debate on Civil Partnerships last Wednesday, but in the meantime Anglican Mainstream has a report up of the fringe meeting last Tuesday that James Parker and I spoke at.
I was slightly confused to read your ‘postgay’ threads. I was searching google for ‘postgay’, but this is commonly understood as no longer embracing the binary opposites of straight or gay. It is associated with post-structuralism and is similar to concepts such as post-evangelical. To be post-gay generally means that you no longer consider the label of sexuality to define you. This can be seen as very Biblical in the sense of ‘we are neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female’ (Gal 3:28) – no binary oppositions! It is definitely not usually used in the sense of ‘ex-gay’.
