I’m no fan of Ann Widdecombe, but I must say that she makes her case extremely well. In fact I agree with her that the legal definition of marriage should stay exactly as it is. However, I can’t forget that she fought tooth and nail against the introduction of civil partnerships, and that most of those behind the C4M would abolish civil partnerships if they could. That’s why I’d cut my right hand off before I signed their petition.
Has Ann Widdecombe forgotten that Lord Carey at the beginning of his pontificate on the Throne of St Augustine called people like her who did not hold with women priests, heretics?

Do you think David Cameron is quaking in his boots now, Guglielmo? :-) She was probably better than Lord Carey, which was hardly difficult. The last piece of Widdecombesque theatre I witnessed was at the Royal Opera House as the English duchess in Donizetti’s La Fille du Régiment. A purely speaking part, I hasten to add.
PS Looks like France has actually now set a date ahead of Scotland and England:

And not as good as Dawn French in the same role.
But to be fair, NO-ONE could be as good as Dawn French in that role.
Absolutely :-)

BTW does everyone agree Widdecombe’s hairdresser should be shot…….hope he’s not gay:-)
You make a persuasive argument.
