RIP Revd John Richardson

Revd John Richardson, “the Ugley Vicar” died this morning in hospital after a short illness. Pray for his wife Alison and give thanks for the life of a faithful servant of Jesus.

Richardson(3)[1]

At this time of sorrow
the Lord is in our midst
and consoles us with his word:
Blessed are the sorrowful; they shall be comforted.

Blessed be God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of mercies and the God of all consolation.
He comforts us in all our afflictions
and thus enables us to comfort those who grieve
with the same consolation we have received from him.

We shall not all die
but we shall be changed.

The trumpet shall sound and the dead will rise immortal
and we shall be changed.

The perishable must be clothed with the imperishable
and the mortal must be clothed with immortality.

We shall not all die
but we shall be changed.

  1. RIP John – fine theologian and best of men. I miss his blogs very much, and was so sorry to learn of the cruel illness he suffered.

  2. Shocked and saddened at the news. He seemed a fine man and pastor, who always put across his views with clarity and generosity. RIP.

  3. Late as I am I’d just like to join the voices here saying RIP John. He and I had some conversations some years back, on the Chelmsford Anglican Mainstream blog site. John was clear, courteous, respectful and willing to engage – a model for how to have conversations about ‘the gay issue’.

    in friendship, Blair
