To change the subject – Infanticide
Here’s a great video that looks at the attitude of US Presidential candidates to abortion, and in particular the issue of what to do with children who survive an abortion.
It’s not pleasant watching, so don’t click play if you’re squeamish.
Brilliant. Child abuse par excellence, some would say….
If we knew what was actually happening here people might get a bit more bothered.Â
We are rightly appalled by slavery and cruelty and torture. What is happening now in terms of the Sudan, say, is disgusting. And yet we allow this sort of diabolical treatment to be given to our youngest, most vulnerable of population groups without blinking an eye.Â
Even more appalling is the fact that huge number of blacks are aborted — over 1/3 of all abortions are carried out on the bodies of black pre-born girls and boys. In that only 12% of the population is black, some would say that there is a significant undercurrent of genocide going on here. My statistics are from Family and Life, Dublin, 2008, and cite the research of Mike Adams, a ciminology professor at the University of N Carolina. Â
‘President Obama?’  Worrying, to put it mildly. And not just on the abortion front. Think ‘Acorn’, for a start. And realise that the GLBT lobbies in the States are throwing everything they can into getting this man elected.Â
“Sen. Obama, as a member of the Illinois state Senate, voted in the judiciary committee against a law that would provide immediate medical attention to a child born of a failed abortion. He voted against that,” McCain said.
Obama said the bill would have undermined legal protections for abortion provided by Roe vs. Wade. He defended his vote by saying that “there was already a law on the books in Illinois that required providing life-saving treatment, which is why not only myself but pro-choice Republicans and Democrats voted against it.”
Factcheck.org supports Obama’s assertion that there was already a law protecting such babies and has criticized an ad by an antiabortion group featuring a woman who says she was born in a failed abortion. The woman says she would not be alive “if Barack Obama had his way.”
Illinois law since 1975 requires that if a child is born alive during an abortion, the physician “shall exercise the same degree of professional skill, care and diligence to preserve the life and health of the child as would be required of a physician providing immediate medical care to a child born alive in the course of a pregnancy termination which was not an abortion.”
Failure to do so is a felony in Illinois.” LA Times
Please, it is easy to talk about US politics over there with your healthcare, your education, and your broader middle class. Over here, we need so many things that Obama is proposing, for the health of our country and of the world for that matter.Â
I hope that he becomes President, and it seems likely he will.
I would implore you to do your homework, and to think if abortion is the one and only “life issue” to which all others must bow.
Most of us conservatives don’t think Roe v Wade should stay in place. The point about Obama being in support of abortion still stands.
No, that wasn’t your point. Your point was on “infanticide” not “abortion” in a broad sense.
And by the way Peter, it seems that the most honest thing would be for you to take the video off. Certainly you can protest Obama’s position on abortion (as I myself do) but it would not be like you to purposely misrepresent people in light of real evidence to the contrary.
Tony,
